A little background on me. I am a happily married father of 3. We live in a rural Appalachian town with very few choices in the grocery and restaurant variety. I weighed around 190 a year ago and my wife had our 1st but my 3rd child. At that time I had a bit of an issue with alcohol, drinking beer about 4 nights a week in excess, and smoking about 1/2 pack of cigarettes a day. In January of this year I sustained a blow to my lower back, falling down some steps. The injury affects me to this day. Over the past couple of months I've decided if I keep going this direction I'll be dead by 65...and that puts me in a midlife crisis way too soon. I have way too much to live for and my family deserves better.

I've never been an athletic type. Played a lot of music in college, drank a lot, ate a ton of carbs but always enjoyed cycling for fun. I bought a nice mountain bike on craigslist last month and things really started to change after that.

I started out riding about 2 miles daily and smoking cessation became a necessity right away. I just hated not being able to breathe. Then came the cutbacks on drinking...my wife and I enjoy beer... But realized we were having too many each week. This led to a weekly drinking night. One thing led to another and it only made sense to adopt a diet that has the same type of cheat system....so here I am.

At present I weigh 207lbs 6' tall

Measurements to come...no tape at the moment.

I ride my bike 4.5 miles (decent eleVation) daily it helps with the smoking cravings. Also do increasing reps of sit-ups and crunches. Trying to keep this part simple. but do it every day.

Sleep is tough for me I work a varying schedule of day and night shifts 12 hours. Usually one day 7a-7p and 2 nights 7p-7a per week. I usually only sleep about 3.5 hours on my nightshifts but decent 8 hours when I work days and wake up a lot.

I can't think of anything else. Started on Thursday and want to do cheat day tomorrow while camping with my wife.

Down to 198.6 this morning!!!!! Starting kettblebell training this week in addition to my cycling. I am trying to do better at getting my protein for breakfast and working/sleep/meal scheduling due to my working 12 hour shifts.

not sure if anyone will care, but I wanted to say that I am going to be posting my progress on my SLD Page instead of in this forum.
